In a previous post, I have mentioned that my friends (the English-speaking) and I are doing a series of 'creative meetings'. Rustic Flower Vases from Mason Jars

Rustic Flower Vases from Mason Jars

Overtime, I have collected a lot of glass bottles and mason jars from buying various food stuff like preserved fruits, jams, sausages, wines, sauces and condiments. Although, here in Germany, all glasses are sorted separately(also by color) to be recycled, it just didn`t feel right throwing these bottles and glasses away. But the problem is, our cupboards are becoming full of these empty bottles and jars...so I guess it's time to make them useful. One is the simplest way to repurpose mason jars are to make them into  flower vases. Here you will see…Read more→
DIY Canopy Bed (outdoor)

DIY Canopy Bed (outdoor)

What we liked best when we decided to move to our new apartment was the really wide terrace, although I would prefer to have a garden where I can plant directly on the ground, having our wide terrace is the next best thing. We just got ourselves some  big pots that are now planted with fruit bearing trees such as cherries, apple, pear and peaches. I also made some planter boxes from palettes to plant some vegetables like spinach, radish, lettuce garlic and tomatoes. Outdoor tables and chairs are on their way too but…Read more→
Wall design – Japanese inspired

Wall design – Japanese inspired

Late October last year, my husband and I suddenly found ourselves moving to our current apartment. Ok it was not really sudden since  we had to wait for the required 3 months notice (in Germany) before we could vacate our previous one. One moment, we were just talking about looking for a bigger space and then saw this advertisement in a website for rental apartments and decided to get a peek at the place. And I mean just a peek, because we just drove there and pass by the house (twice) since we…Read more→

Make your own wall collage

Here is another easy and inexpensive way to put some life to an empty wall - by creating a collage of pictures of your choice. You can use pictures that you've taken yourself and make them into a wall collage or use favorite pictures from the internet (be sure though that you are allowed to use them) and add a little personal touch. My husband has taken some great pictures last time we went for a day trip to Insel Mainau one fine spring day and because I love flowers, this is the theme we…Read more→

They look so pretty, dainty and elegant.  I’ve always like orchids but it was only until recently that I have the guts to be an orchid owner.  Well, that is not entirely true. It was more like I was forced into being one. You see a relative gave me a Phalaenopsis orchid (also known as "Moth" orchid, maybe because the flower resembles a moth?! duh!) for…Read more→
How to make your own indoor hanging herb garden

How to make your own indoor hanging herb garden

I like planting my own herbs. It is practical when you do not have to rush to the groceries whenever you need them and you are sure that no chemicals were used to grow them. You can grow them in pots outside when it is warm enough or even indoors during the cold seasons.  But other people might have problems with too less or small space to plant herbs indoors like in their kitchen, in my case the problem was having too much a space that is looking too bare or just plain…Read more→
